Insurance

What does it mean to be an In-Network provider?

An in-network provider is contracted with a health insurance company to provide services to plan members for specific pre-negotiated rates. I am in network with most insurance companies in based out of CA.

What does it mean to be an Out-of-Network provider?

An out-of-network provider is not contracted with the health insurance plan. Typically, if you visit an in-network provider, you will pay less than if you visit an out-of-network provider. Also, when visiting an Out-of-Network provider, you will probably have a higher deductible. I can still bill out of network- and you may still have coverage if this is the case.

I am IN-network and able to take both the PPO and HMO version of:

  • Aetna

  • Assurant Health

  • Blue Cross (Anthem)

  • Blue Shield of California

  • GEHA

  • HealthNet

  • Kaiser

  • Meritain Health

  • United Health Care

  • Cigna

  • Scan

What if I have Kaiser?

Yes, you can come see me if you have Kaiser.  Most Kaiser plans you will need to get a referral to see an ASH acupuncturist from your pain specialist at Kaiser, and I will be able to accept your health insurance. There are some Kaiser plans that do not need a referral- if you are unsure I can check for you.

What if my health insurance is not on your list?

Call/Text or email me if your insurance is not listed. I will happily look into your benefits for you.

What about Medicare?

Medicare does not offer acupuncture to its members unless you have a SCAN medicare insurance plan- which processes through American Specialty Health. Some supplemental insurance does cover. Call or email to inquire.

What if I find the whole insurance thing too frustrating?

Email or Call me — I’ll look into it for you and save you the hassle.
