What is Gua Sha?

Gua Sha is more than a beauty trend—it’s a traditional East Asian technique that has been used for generations as part of therapeutic care.

Using a smooth-edged tool, your practitioner applies controlled strokes across the skin and underlying tissues. Most people describe it as a firm, gliding sensation that can feel especially satisfying over areas of muscle tension.

You may notice temporary redness or small red/purple marks afterward. These marks, often called sha, occur as small blood vessels near the skin respond to the pressure and typically fade over several days.

We may incorporate Gua Sha into treatment to help with:

• Tight or sore muscles

• Neck & shoulder tension

• Back discomfort

• Headaches associated with muscle tension

• Sports and workout recovery

• Local circulation and mobility

Gua Sha can be used on its own or alongside acupuncture as part of an individualized treatment.

Move. Release. Restore.
